Watchful Eye continues its partnership with the UniverSoul Circus
Through the innovative leadership of Watchful Eye founder Dee Bailey and strong ties to the community the UniverSoul Circus recognized its enormous responsibility to the Black community to shed light on the crippling affects of HIV/AIDS. Watchful Eye realized that the circus provided a significant opportunity to deliver HIV/AIDS prevention messages to a tremendous number of people in New York and other cities where the circus performs.
The concept of "Edu-Tainment" stems from combining education while entertaining the audience. For the past seven years, Watchful Eye has played a symbolic role in the UniverSoul Circus, by delivering HIV/AIDS prevention messages along with elected officials during the pre-show and half-time shows. The message "HIV/AIDS is 100% preventable - Get Tested, Know Your Status, Get Involved" is clearly heard at each of the Watchful Eye pre-show circus performances. During the pre-show local talent from Community Based Organizations and Faith Based Organizations perform in front of thousands of audience members at these special HIV/AIDS Awareness Nights. HIV/AIDS testing is available onsite and thousands of attendees are encouraged to get tested during each night.
The UniverSoul Circus is so inspired by Watchful Eye and its community partners to reach its communities of the five boroughs, that they look forward to partnering with them every year in efforts to end the HIV/AIDS epidemic.
This year Watchful Eye's 2017 Circus Presentations were not only heard during the UniverSoul Circus pre-show but during the half-time show as well.
